The story behind it
She’s back.
And this time she’s got her brood to protect.
The bush stone curlew has a bit of a reputation for nesting in inopportune locations.
Like the verge outside your house.
And when she’s in protection mode, she does what she does best.
She acts weird and unsettling.
This is one of the reasons the bush stone curlew is my spirit animal. When I’m feeling uncomfortable or threatened in a social situation, I also start acting weird and unsettling. It’s a defence mechanism. And so far it’s worked bloody well.
When a curlew feels the need to warn you off, she spreads her wings low and wide. Shoulders rounded. Wings hanging down like the cape of a matador. Or Count Dracula about to make a point.
It’s pure theatre. And creepy as hell.
She’s on the verge.

Printed just for you. Every order is printed to order in Brisbane, usually within 1-3 business days.
Once your order has been printed and dispatched:
- Standard shipping: usually 4–8 business days
- Express shipping: usually 3–6 business days
- Free standard shipping on orders over $100
Top End customers: If you're in the NT and in a hurry (an unusual combination), we recommend choosing Express Shipping. Standard parcels from Brisbane tend to take the scenic route via Adelaide before eventually heading north. Express shipping usually takes the red-eye directly instead.
Because each item is printed to order, we can’t usually exchange items ordered in the wrong size. Please check the size guide before ordering. Annoying, but also fairly sensible.
