When our dear old cat Stanley passed, two frogmouths came to roost in our yard.
They stayed for a week.
Said nothing.
Then moved on.

Across many cultures, night birds - including tawny frogmouths, nightjars and owls - are often associated with spirits and messengers, watchers between worlds, guides for souls moving on, and protectors during transition.

In some Northern Australian traditions, night birds are seen as carriers of ancestral presence, appearing during times of death, change, or grief. Not as omens in a spooky way - more like quiet supervision.

Others reckon it’s just coincidence.
